In my faith journey, one of the most powerful images has been the communion table. I've been in churches where the table is closed and churches where it is open - and I definitely prefer open! In the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), communion is served every Sunday and is always preceded by an invitation to the table. The best of these invitations not only tell us we are welcome at Christ's table, but offer insight into its meaning and importance. Through these devotionals I hope to invite readers to contemplate their own faith journeys as they prepare to meet Christ at the table - wherever that happens to be at the moment.
